How to Book Your Driving License Theory Test RTA: A Step-by-Step Guide (Updated with Video)

Booking your driving theory test RTA might be intimidating but it’s quite easy with enough help and direction.

Book Your Driving License Theory Test in RTA: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Complete Your Online Theory Classes Registration

In as much as the driver theory test can be booked, the registration for theory and internal practical classes has to be done online first. There is no need to go to a typing center to fill a booking form as the whole process can be carried out at home.

The order of events is as follows:

1.Register for Theory Classes:

• You’ll need a message from the traffic department that contains your traffic number and trial file number.
• Visit the Emirates Driving Company (EDC) website and enter these numbers to access the registration form.
• Fill in your personal details, such as your nationality, education level, and email. Ensure you use an active email because you will receive a verification link.
• Once registered, you’ll receive a student number starting with 106 or 107.

2.Make a Payment:

The cost for theory classes is AED 1029. If you're applying for the Golden Chance, the cost will be around AED 1479. After completing your payment, you'll be able to book your classes.

Step 2: Book Your Theory Classes

As soon as the payment gets approved, the next thing that you can do is schedule your lesson on the theory. There are two theory classes for beginners or applicants for golden chance students, which last one hour each with 15-minute recess in between.

There are classes that can be offered either online or physical depending with the language of instruction.

• Online- in English and Arabic.
• Onsite – in Urdu, Malayalam or Pashto.

Step 3: Book the Theory Test

The next stage after attending your theory classes is to schedule your theory examination. For this approach:

1. Access the EDC website and provide your email along with a password.
2. On the menu at the top, find “Theory Test Booking” and click it.
3. Choose a date and time from the available options for your comfort.

Alternatively, some of the users have reported that the same can be done under the “Pay (Beta)” section of the site. In any case, if this option is not available, you may want to contact booking@edcad.ae.

Step 4: Onsite Test & Final Confirmation

Note that while you may attend theory classes via the internet, the theory examination itself must be taken at one of the branches of the Emirates Driving Company.

All this is provided you have not only booked your test but all the processes (registration, payment, and booking) appear in green color on the website.
